Streszczenie:
Toric manifolds, topological generalizations of toric varieties of algebraic geometry, were introduced in 1990′ by Michael W. Davis and myself, and were quite intensively studied ever since.

They are manifolds M^2n with a locally standard action of the torus T^n. The quotient space is then a maniflod with corners, and we ostulated that it is homeomorphic to a simple convex polytope.

Recently new examples of actions (M^2n, T^n), with topologically complicated quotients, were discovered and the need to reexamine the theory arose.
I will present what has been acheived in this direction and, time permitting, discuss challenges.
